She's crying again... please pray that God will help soothe her and give us the wisdom about what to do in this situation so we can take care of her effectively. As you can imagine, not being able to sleep is exhausting.

Oh the joys of parenting....
Looks like we might be able to go back home tomorrow! We've been in the hospital since Friday. We would really appreciate your prayers regarding our little one. She's getting a hold of breastfeeding finally today, but when she is not eating... she's pretty much screaming. We aren't sure what's going on, whether it's gas or stomach issues or that she's scared or overstimulated... it's been quite frustrating trying to soothe her. The only way to sooth her seems to be by sticking a finger in her mouth. We wish we had a pacifier here, or that they would offer us one...but no...they don't want her to have nipple confusion. We don't think she has any confusion between our fingers and my nipples, so I am not sure what's the deal.

praying for you! enjoy giving Jenna a soothie as soon as you get home! we were told the same thing, but NEVER had any issues with nipple confusion. jace just needed something to suck on. don't be afraid to ask a nurse to hold your sweetie for a little while, or even send her to the nursery, to get a little bit of sleep tonight since you won't get that luxury once you go home.
ReplyDeleteThat is so strange! Darby's favorite paci for the first few months was the one the hospital stuck in her mouth! I wonder why some hospitals are anti-paci? Unless it's just certain nurses or something. Things will fall into routine soon! GREAT job on the nursing!! That was harder for me than labor. So proud of you Mama!! Praying for you!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm sorry to hear that...will definitely pray for you guys. :) I know the combination of sleep deprivation and no paci is definitely hard. I can't believe that either...that the hospital won't give her a paci! Poor baby!
ReplyDeleteMaybe this will be the beginning of a good outcome then, going home....so you can give her one!
Praying for you momma!
Oh...and sorry...it's me Amber, not Justin...:)
